BioMy name is Juushika, Juu, or Jessica; I'm a 26-year-old female living in Oregon, USA.
My journal is currently unlocked, although some select and many older entries are locked. Feel free to add me, and do please say hello. My journal is a home for a large number of reviews (primarily book reviews), my thoughts on my interests and pastimes (reading, writing, BPAL, gaming), and some updates on my daily life. My posts tend towards the long and lengthy, full of odd syntax and anal-retentive detail—just like my life. When I can find my memory card, I sometimes post picspams—but I do resize and LJ-cut images. As of November 2011, all images posted on my Flickr will have disability-accessible image descriptions on that site; click through to read them. My posts are carefully tagged, which may be a good way to introduce yourself to my journal.
LJ friends are always welcome, and lurkers are too. Comment if you wish. I tend to comment only when I have something worthwhile to say.
Books are my life and my passion: I'm a voracious reader (almost always fiction, never chicklit or high fantasy, often fantasy, science fiction, general literature, young adult literature, and classics, with a particular love of Shakespeare) and review most of what I read. I love to discuss books and welcome recommendations and fellow readers.
When not reading, my other interest range from gaming (mostly JRPGs and Second Life, although sometimes I blog a lot of Sims 3), Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab perfumes, anime/manga, and the arts (I'm a sometimes-photographer, would-be writer). I'm an animal lover as well, and currently live with two cats and one guinea pig, with two dogs and two more cats in my extended family. I'm in a committed relationship with my high school boyfriend (eight years, already!), who I love with all my heart and who makes my life possible.
I live with depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia; I have a history of self-harm.These topics may or may not appear on my journal, but I'm always willing to talk about them. I'm largely housebound, and defined by my mental health issues—but I'm at peace with that, and happier now than I have been in a long time.
Other potentially relevant details: I vacillate between Scottish Celtic Reconstructionist paganism and atheism, so I'm obviously still finding my path. I am a domestic house cat therian. I have chronic, slowly-worsening lower back pain. I have red hair, and I'm very proud of it. Sometimes I disappear from LJ for months at a time, often without warning. I'm bisexual, liberal, vegetarian, childfree, intelligent, opinionated, and unapologetic. There's a lot more to me, and these topics may or may not appear in my journal, but it's a start.
